About Us

Hucknall Town NC is a local club, based just north of Nottingham, dedicated to the development of junior and senior netball.  We have been running since 2004 (juniors since 2005) and many of our founding volunteers and members are still with us!

We currently train at The National Academy (Hucknall) in the sports hall during the winter months and outside courts in the summer (and when weather permits).

We offer players of all ages, backgrounds and playing ability the opportunity to find netball for the first time or further develop their skills within a fun and safe environment (please refer to the “Teams” tab for current squads).

In recognition of our commitment to providing excellent facilities and opportunities, we have been awarded Silver Accreditation by Active Ashfield Sports Awards and England Netball's Bronze CAPS Award.  Over the period we have been nominated for several awards and have won awards in the categories of “Club of the Year”, “Unsung Hero” and “Grass Roots Coach of the Year”.  We have also have had players selected on the England Netball Performance Pathway every year since 2008 season and many go on to play at a high level.

We currently have squads playing at all ages and to suit all abilities. We train in Hucknall and we are always pleased to welcome new players.  Fixtures are played at a veriety of venues in Nottingham and matches can be on a Tuesday (summer league only), Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday depending on the age group/squad.

All coaches and volunteers working with juniors are DBS checked by England netball, first aid trained and suitably qualified to coach the group.  We enlist the help of specialist fitness instructors who help our members appreciate the importance of strength & conditioning and ultimately injury prevention and good all round fitness. We also have occasional training days/positional days where we invite external coaches (including Loughborough Lightning players) to come in and present targeted sessions.  For our younger members (U11’s), we have introduced foundation development certificates so that they have individual targets to work towards.

For our performance players we have a close link with other clubs playing at a regional level to ensure that we can support them better in their progression. However we are now competing in the Nottinghamshire Premier Divison and so we are very optimistic of competing in our own right at regional level in the near future.
